Growth and Depreciation: Exercise Solutions
Mathematics • Grade 10 • Exercise 3.1 and 3.2 with step-by-step solutions- Growth: PT = P(1 + R/100)T | Increase = P[(1 + R/100)T − 1]
- Varying growth rates: PT = P(1 + R₁/100)(1 + R₂/100)(1 + R₃/100)…
- Depreciation: VT = V₀(1 − R/100)T | Depreciated amount = V₀ − VT
- Varying depreciation rates: VT = V₀(1 − R₁/100)(1 − R₂/100)…
- Unknown rate / time: find VT ÷ V₀ (or PT ÷ P) and compare it with powers of (1 ± R/100).
- Two values after n and n + 1 years: the ratio of the later value to the earlier one gives (1 ± R/100).
